TitleDeed to Lead Uses of Fine
Description(1) Sir Thomas Cotton, Sawtry, Bart. Thomas Cotton, Gidding Abbotts, Esq. John Cotton, son and heir app. of Thomas, Esq. (2) Robert Bernard, Huntingdon, Esq. Richard Turnbull, Bernards Inn, gent. (3) Sir Capell Bedell, Hamerton, Bart. Sir Robert Wolseley, Wolseley, Staffs, Bart. Sir Robert Pointz, Iron Acton, Glos, K.B. William Byerley, Greyes Inn, Esq. (1) For the performance of a condition contained in an Indenture of 20 June, 1633 for the settling of the joynture of Frances, wife of John C. and the settling of the herein mentioned Manors, lands etc. It is agreed between all these parties and (1) agree with (2) to levy a fine in favour of (2) of Manor of Giddinge A. with apps. Advowson of Gidding A. To the following uses: 6 farms and apps. (490a.); Michills; Advowson to use of Sir Thomas Cotton, Sir Capell Bedell and Robert Bernard during the life of Thomas C., Esq. After his death to use of John C. for life, then to his heirs in tail male or to the right heirs of Thomas C. Hanghill Meadow and Brooke Close (64a.); Ley Close, Round Meadow and Berrypond Leas (30a.) Cow Close (20a.) with apps. to the use of Sir Thomas C., Sir Capell B., and Robt. Bernard during the life of Thomas C. Esq., and Mary his wife and the survivor of them, then to the right heirs of Thomas C., Esq. Capital Messuage now in possession of Thomas C., Esq. with apps, Dovecoate Close and Burntyards, Grants Close, Little Hills and 6a. of arable land in every field in Giddings, to use of Sir Thomas C., Sir Capell B., and Robt. Bernard during the life of Thomas C., Esq., then to the right heirs of Thomas C. Esq. Throloe pasture, Alpitt pasture and meadow (180a.) to use of John C. for life, then to Wolseley, Pointz and Byerley, during the life of Frances, John Cotton's wife. After her death to use of Thomas C. the father for life, then to the heirs male of John C. If none to the right heirs of Thomas C. Esq. The great pasture and meadow (134a.) to the use of John C. for life then to the use of Wolseley, Pointz and Byerley during the life of Frances, wife of John C. The profit to be employed by them for the education and maintenance of the children of John and Frances and the residue of the profit to the use of the said Frances. Then to the use of Thomas C., the father for life, then to the heirs male of John C. If none, to the right heirs of Thomas C. Esq.
