TitleRelease of Debt.
DescriptionRecites (i) a bond of £400 entered into by Sir Christopher Hatton, K.b. and Sir Robert Hatton Kt., to Sir Thomas Cotton, Bart., on 1 Jan. 1640 for the payment of £208 upon 1 July, next. (ii) The said Sir Thomas Cotton hath assigned the said bond to Lewes Mordant, Esq., and Ellen Mathewes, the younger. Now I, James Ravenscroft, by desire and consent of Lewis Mordant and Ellen Mathewes release to Sir Thomas C. one debt of £200 made payable to me by indenture of 10 March, 1641 from John Cotton, late of Steeple Gidding, Esq., or Sir Thomas C., Bart, which was in trust for Marie Cotton, decd., and disposed of by the said Marie Cotton or her husband Thomas C., to the said Lewis Mordant and Ellen M., and is satisfied by the bond aforesaid. Lewis Mordant and Ellen Mathewes remit and release to Sir Thomas C. all actions, claims etc., re. any trust arising from Marie Cotton, widow, decd., or Thomas Cotton, Esq., her husband, decd.
