(The 4 women being the daus. of Sir John C. and devisees named in his will.) Recites: (i) Lease and Release of 27/28 May, 1675 by which Sir John Cotton and John C., his grandson released to Sir Thos. Proby and Humfry Monoux, Manors of Conington, Glatton and Holme, with apps. and Mansion House in St. Margarets, Westminster, so that Proby and Monoux might suffer a common recovery; most land to the use of Sir John Cotton in tail male. 2 Blackpitts Meadows etc. in Conington to use of Sir John C. for life, then to Proby and Sir Michael Heneage, Grays Inn, Middx. Kt., upon trust for the settling of a messuage called St. Germans and lands in parish of St. Michaels, near St. Albans, Herts. (ii) Death of parties Cottons, Proby and Heneage. (iii) Fact that premises in Herts. were not settled. (iv) Payment by (3) to (2) survivor of exors. of Sir John Cotton, the grandfather, of £2,000 to enable (1) to convey the said estate.
