Description(1) Sir John Cotton, Conington, Bart. (2) The Rev. Thomas Dod, Conington, clerk. John Woodstock, coal merchant. James Gray, yeoman. Richard Bowles, yeoman. William Wright, baker. William Rhoades, yeoman. All inhabitants and parishioners of Holme. Recites: (i) Distress of the poor of Holme in recent years and inability to support themselves without charitable assistance. (ii) Sir John Cotton, Lord of the Manor there, wishing to alleviate their distress. Now (1) to settle the following lands to (2) and for 10/- from (2) to (1), to (2). Constables' Close, Conington, abutting last onto the old park, north onto the island, west onto Floury Close, and south onto the Hall garden and Conington Church, 9a. now in the occupation of Matthew Bishop, with all apps. Upon trust to collect the profits, and after reasonable reimbursement of their own expenses, to pay every Michaelmas, to those parishioners of Holme who are chargeable to the parish in such proportions as the Minister or Rector of Conington and the Churchwarden of Holme shall think most proper and reasonable. When 4 trustees shall have died, remaining two to appoint four new ones. Endorsed: Delivery of seisin from (1) to (2).
