TitleCrown Grant; (Lease); from Elizabeth I to William Button.
DescriptionLands in Gedding Abbotts, part of the Manor there, late belonging to the monastery of Ramsey, now dissolved. These lands were granted by Letters Patent of Edward VI, dated 15 Oct. 1553, to Thomas Pele, gent, for 21 years at £ 12.3.10d. p.a. and were then or late in occupation of Richard Button. Thomas Pele has now surrended all right, title etc. in them to the said Wm. Button. And in consideration that Wm. Button wishes to repair and maintain the tenements and Buildings there, now thrown down and in ruins, and for a fine of £36.11.6d. which Wm. Button has paid. The said lands are granted to him - reserving to the Crown all trees, wood, mines and quarries there. For 21 years at £12.3.10d. p.a. Power of distraint to the Crown after 40 days. Enrolled in the office of Wm. Fuller, Auditor, 7 Nov. 1571.
