Description1. Charles Bertie, Uffington, Esq., eldest son and heir of Chas. Bertie, Esq., decd. 2. Richard Bertie, Esq and James Bertie, Esq., two of the younger sons of the said Charles Bertie Esq., decd., by Bersheba, his late wife who was the dau. of Richard Mead, Dr. of Phisick, also decd. 3. Sir John Heathcote, Normanton, Rutland, Bart. 4. Edward Wilmot, St. James, Westminster, Middx. Dr. of Phisick, and Taylor White, Lincolns Inn, Esq. Recites: 1) Bargain and Sale of 18 Sep. 1728 from the Berties to Thomas Vaudrey, Esq., and William Taylor, Esq., of the Rectory of Great Stukeley, with all apps. Manor House of Great S., Manor of Great S. called Camoys Manor with all apps. Parcel of ground on which a windmill formerly stood in Gt.S. Moiety of the Manor of Broughtons with all apps., to suffer a Common Recovery of the property. 2) Suffering of said Recovery. 3) Deed. to Declare Uses of Recovery of 17 Dec. 1728. 4) Marriage Settlement of 26 July, 1731. 5) Deaths of Charles Bertie and Bersheba Mead without making any appointment of the said £6,000, and leaving 1. and three younger sons., 2. now 21, and Montague, now about 20, and the first two now being entitled to £2,000 apiece, and Montague will be entitled at age 21. 6) Said term of 1,000 years being vested in James Mead the surviving trustee. 7) Deed to Lead Uses of Recovery of 16 April, 1755. 8) Recovery of Easter, 1755. 9) 3., having agreed with 1. for the purchase of the said premises so charged with the payment of £6,000, for £11,700, has paid to Richard Bertie £2,000. 10) Payment by 3. of £2,000 to James Bertie. 11) All interest due to 2. discharged. 12) There remains only the £2,000 payable to Montague Bertie at 21 or to the surviving younger children of 1., if Montague dies before he is 21. Now it is covenanted by all parties that for the £2,000 apiece paid by 3. to 2., 2. assign to 3. all their rights in the said premises, and agree that as soon as Montague is paid £2,000, James Mead will assign to 3. such of the premises as are purchased by 3. And for the better securing of 3. from the said charge of £2,000 and that the said term of 1,000 years shall be so assigned to 3., 1. covenants with 3. that the sum of £2,000 part of the said sum of £11,700 shall be paid to 4. as trustees to be invested by them in 3% Bank Annuities in trust for the following uses: To pay such maintenance as will grow due to the said Montague Bertie until the £2,000 £2,000 is paid. To sell the stock when Montague is of age and pay him the £2,000 and all interest due. If he dies before he is 21 to sell the stock and pay the sum to 2., or to anyone else entitled to it. If any surplus to pay to 1. If sale does not raise £2,000 then 1. covenants with 3. to pay 4. the sum necessary to make it up. 1. agrees with 3. that once the sum is paid 1. will cause James Mead or his executors to assign the said premises to 3. Recites: 13) Demise of 10 Sep. 1728 from the Berties to Kemp Brydges for £1,500, messuage and following closes: House Close, Little Bennets pasture, Woolartons and Dogsturd Close - yearly value £65, in Great Stukeley. Nuns Meadow with apps. in Great Stukeley, yearly value £10. The Woodfield, the Kings Close, The Peter Pasture, The Holme Close and Lindfords Pasture with apps. in Great Stukeley, yearly value £32. Cottage and homestead in Great Stukeley late John Larratts, yearly value £1.18s. Cottage late in tenure of Francis Bills in Great Stukeley, yearly rent 18/- with all apps., for 1,000 years. 14) Assignment of 16 Jan. 1732 from Brydges to James Mead of all the said premises for residue of term in trust for Charles Bertie, father of 1. Now 1. covenants that he will, within two years from now, cause James Mead or his exors. to assign to 3. the said premises for residue of term. Endorsed: Receipt from 2. for £2,000 apiece.
