Description1. Mary Firby, Biggleswade, Beds, widow. 2. Thomas Hart, Warfield, Berks, Esq. and Jane, his wife; Thomas Bowdler, Ashley Wilts., Esq. and Eliz. Stuart, his wife; Frances Cotton, Stretton Hall, Beds., sp. Mary Cotton, of the same place, sp. (4 women being the daus. and co-heirs of Sir John Cotton, Bart, decd.); 3. Sir John Heathcote, Normanton, Rutland, Bart. 4. Taylor White, Lincoln's Inn, Esq. Recites: 1) Indenture of 9 May, 1683 by which James Fairclough assigned to Hercules Horsey the Manor of Upton with apps. for 500 years. 2) Indenture of 23 Aug. 1690 by which Horsey assigned to Josiah Bacon the said premises for residue of term. 3) Indenture of 10 Jul. 1691 by which Bacon assigned the premises to John Howell and Ellis Griggs in trust for Sir John Cotton for residue of term. 4) Death of Ellis Griggs, surviving trustee, and 1., his only dau., his administrator, so residue of term vested in her. 5) Agreement of 3., and 2. for absolute purchase of premises; conveyed to 3. by lease and release of even date and remainder of term to be assigned by 1. to 4. in trust for 3. Now 1. to 4. for 5/- by direction of 2. and at request of 3., in trust for 3. Manor of Upton with all apps. for residue of term. Enclosed: Letters of Administration 20 Mar. 1754 granted to Mary Firby, widow, dau. and next of kin of Ellis Griggs, late of B'wade, maltster, for his possessions.
