TitleMortgage (Deed to Lead Uses of Fine: Lease and Release)
Description(1) The Rt. Hon Peter, Lord Gwydir. The Rt. Hon. Priscilla Barbara Elizabeth, Baroness Willoughby of Eresby, his wife. (2) Vicary Gibbs, Inner Temple, London, Esq. Recites: (i) Lord Gwydir being seised in fee simple of hereinafter-mentioned messuage and lands. (ii) Demise of 17 April, 1795 from Dean and Chapter of Westminster to Lord Gwydir of parsonage of Alc. and allotments in Alc. and W. for lives of Susanna Campbell, Lord Gwydir and Peter Robt. Burrell, his eldest son, for £24. p.a. (iii) Lord Gwydir now seised of said parsonage etc. subject to trusts in marriage settlement of 22 Feb. 1779. (iv) Lord Gwydir having asked (2) to lend him £5,219, to secure the repayment, has agreed to convey the said hereinafter granted messuage and lands to (2) and to demise said parsonage etc. to him. Now for £5,219, Lord Gwydir to (2). 7a.1r. of arable and 3a. leys and messuage called The Swan and croft (1a) adjoining, in Weston, and all other land formerly the estate of James Ravenscroft, Esq., Decd., in Alc. or W. or elsewhere in Hunts. which was conveyed to John Lewis by Lease and Release of 17/18 Sep.(?) 1705, except such parts as were in the open fields of Alc. with W. and have since been enclosed and allotted elsewhere. And parcel of freehold land (107a.38p.) in Alc. in Wold Common and Broad Hay Field (boundaries given), all allotted to Lord G., then Sir Peter Burrell by the Alc. Encl. Award of 5 Aug. 1793. Lord G. demises to (2). Parsonage of Alc. with apps. and 13 allotments in Alc. and W. (470a) allotted under the said Enclosure Act. to the said Dean and Chapter and their lessee in lieu of tithes (except the timber there and the advowson of Alc. vicarage) and all the premises demised to Lord G., for 99 years if the said 3 people live so long. Lord G. covenants with (2) that he will surrender to the Lord of the Manor of Alc. with W., all those 6 messuages or cottages with apps. (16a.), 268a. arable land and leas and 15a. meadow and ?a. pasture and 20a. and ½r. of arable formerly Massey's in Alc. And 5a.3r. of meadow in the Great and Little Meadow in Alc. And 26½a arable in the fields of Alc., i.e. 10a. in Millfield, 10½a. in Millfield and 5a. in Beddow Meadow Feild. And 3a. meadow in Alc. meadow, i.e. 2r. in Poolsmith's Meadow, 1r. in the Great Meadow, 1a.1r. in Little Meadow and 1a. in Beddown Meadow. And 8a. arable in Alc. W. fields and 44a.1r. arable and 6½a. and ½r. of meadow all held of the Manor of Alc. with W. and to all which the said Elizabeth Lewis, mother and Lord G., and Susanna Campbell were admitted at a Court of 8 March, 1747 as daus. and co-heirs of John Lewis decd., (except any allotted by the Enclosure Act to anyone else. And also a parcel of copyhold land (30a.2r.8p.) in Alc. in the Great Meadow. And parcel of copyhold land (163a.1r.16p.) in Hill Field, Alc. (boundaries given). And piece of copyhold land (118a14p) in Hill Field Alc. W., all allotted to Lord G. by said Encl. Act and held of the Manor of Alc. with W. And parcel of old enclosure in Alc. (1a.27p). And other piece of old inclosure called Lambs Close (6a.3r.3p.) in Alc. given by Enclosure Award to Lord G. in exchange for a parcel of land belonging to him. (1) before the end of next Easter Term promise to levy a fine of said premises to use of (2). Clear apart from customary dues and trusts of settlement of 22 Feb. 1779. (1) to do any necessary deeds of further assurance and to make new leases as necessary for demised premises. Covenants that if (2) lends any more money to Lord G. he Lord G., will sign a receipt for same on the back of these presents and all herein-before mentioned lands shall be chargeable with the repayment of all such sums and the premises can only be redeemed when all is paid. Endorsements: Receipts from Lord. G. to (2): (i) for full amount £5,219, even date. (ii) 26 March, 1798 - £461.19s. (iii) 26 Dec. 1798 - £513.0.9d. (iv) 25 Jan. 1800 - £309.10s. (v) 25 Feb. 1801 - £696.2s. (vi) 25 Jan. 1802 - £357. (vii) 26 Jan. 1803 - £376.7.3d. (viii) 1 May, 1804 - £395.2s. (ix) 25 Jan. 1805 - £414.15.6d. All except (i) secured by bonds of even date and all chargeable on aforesaid premises.
