DescriptionMade for a 6 month's tax, beginning 29 Dec. 1652 and 24 June, 1653; imposed on the parish of Steeple G. by the sequestrators for the maintenance of armies and navies. Gives list of tenants and amount they are taxed, with names of sequestrators and collectors. Gives amount of tythe paid by 2 tenants of the sequestrated lands - William Freeman and Danyell Hirst. Mentions that rates have been agreed for Constables Charges - £3; and £5. for the poor. Sir Thomas (C) is to pay 3/5ths. = £4.16s., and Mrs. Cotton 2/5ths. = £3.4s. The £3.4s. is said to come from the sequestd grounds which are therefore apparently Mrs. Cotton's.
