TitleRental with comments on estate of Steeple Gidding.
DescriptionTotal year's rent £803.8.0 for 5 tenants. Out payments - The Rector £40. A year's Land Tax at 3s. = £36. Steward's salary = £50 the first year; thereafter £20 p.a. Money spent on Buildings, Barns and Stables = £800, plus a further £100 necessary. £700 worth of timber from the estate. 3 houses to be let to labourers at £1. apiece. The hedges are in good order, but the posting and railing is not - it may stand perhaps 10 or 12 years, and seems to be calculated for the length of the leases. Annual repairs generally trifling; estate is well tenated and will not sink in rent. Many buildings materials left on the estate. Appended is a letter - 14 Feb. 1774 from Ro(ose) Mitchell, thanking for letter, and giving details of his state of health and invalid diet. 2nd. copy: Addition there are many materials for building left on the estate. No appended letter.
