TitleAssignment and Power of Attorney
Description(1) Thomas Cotton, St. Margarets, Westminster, Esq, (2) Sir John Cotton, Conington, Bart. Recites: (i) Sir John Cotton, late of Stratton, Beds, Bart., decd., bequeathing by his will of 11 Aug. 1701, Manor of Alc. als. Alc. Weston and all lands in Alc. to Robt. Cotton his son, Miles Heneage, Hatton Garden, and John Proby, Elton, Esq. on trust to sell the said manor and to pay his debts and out of the residue to pay £2,000 to (1). (ii) Agreement between (2) and (1) that in consideration of a demise of certain property in Hunts made from (2) to (1) for life of (1) in indenture of even date (1) should assign to (2) the legacy of £2,000. Now (1) in consideration of said demise and in performance of said agreement and for 5/- paid to him by (2). (1) to (2) Said legacy of £2,000. (1) nominates (2) his attorney to receive from R. Cotton Esq., and M. Honeywood Cotton and from Heneage and Proby the said legacy of £2,000.
