TitleCotton v. Cotton Statement of Case
DescriptionSir John Cotton v. Robert Cotton re £2,000 legacy given to Thomas Cotton by his grand-father old Sir John out of the Conington estate. By his will of 11 Aug. 1701 Sir John C. devised his Manor of Alc. to Robt. Cotton, Heneage and Proby in trust to pay debts and out of the residue to pay £2,000 to his grandson, Thos. C. Manor of Alc. is sold and Sir John C. is entitled to the £2,000 bequeathed to Thomas, his bro., but the purchaser refuses to pay the said legacy until the will of old Sir John be proved in Chancery. Robt. C. offers to give Sir John C. a discharge for his £2,000 legacy if Sir John will assign to him the legacy given to his bro. Thomas.
