TitleQueries on Case of Mr. Douglas, with opinion of Scotch counsel thereon.
DescriptionThey think the objections of deathbed and one notary and enough without £9,000 to fulfil marriage contract very strong. Scottish law valid here, yet strong grounds for supporting Mr. Douglas' claim - the late Earl's correspondence shows that it was his intention for it to be part of the provision for Mr. Douglas. Also part of the residue of the estate settled on Mr. Douglas by his father's will of £1766. Only £30,000 was intended to the heirs of entail in Scotland, which has been paid to them. Recent precedent quoted.
