DescriptionRe. Mr. Watts, Rector of Denton. He has accepted the sequestered living of Great Catworth, being invited by the parishioners. He has done this because if the parsonages of Denton and Caldecote are united, as seems likely, he will be quite unprovided for. It will not affect Sir Thomas's right of patronage because it is possible to hold a sequestration and a benefice at the same time. The worst that can happen is when parishioners complain to the Committee of Plundered Ministers and the Minister has to choose. If he chooses the sequestered living, as few do, then the patron may present. He depends much on your favour and hopes you will give him leave to hold Denton parsonage until he may see whether they will be united. Upon your approbation depends his wellbeing - there is no-one more deserving. Compliments, greetings etc.
