| Title | Letter T. White to Sir J. Heathcote. |
| Description | After examining a long abstract of Stewkley and about 100 parchments can only inform Heathcote that none of the main deeds are yet produced, but has given Mayer a list of those necessary. Supposes they are with either Dr. Mead's exors. as Mr. Bertie's father married Dr. Mead's dau., or Mr. Trollope Brown, who has a mortgage of part of Mr. Bertie's estate, but he does not know if it includes Stewkley. Thinks title is good but cannot yet be sure of form any judgement of incumbrances on estate or how they are to be removed etc. But has given Mayer further instructions. No expresses have come from the Duke nor Prussia and therefore there is no news. Difficulty of getting a good Bible for Lady Heathcote because of monopoly held by the King's printer. |
