TitleLetter T. White to Sir John Heathcote, at Normanton, nr. Stamford, Lincs.
DescriptionDifficulties over purchase of Stukeley re. the £6,000 to be paid to the younger sons of Mr. Bertie's father by a term of 1,000 years in Mr. James Mead, who will take no charge of the money. Two of the gentlemen are of age at Oxford therefore he could get no discharge from them as to their share. The other son is not of age and cannot receive his money yet but it must be retained by Heathcote until he comes of age. The legal term being in Mr. Mead he must agree to be trustee for H. as to all but the £2,000 and when that is paid to assign the term to H. or H.'s trustee. But Mr. Mead having agreed to nothing and Mr. Bertie and his bros. being so far distant it is useless to bring the writings to be executed. But Heathcote may safely pay £2,000 or £3,000 to Mr. Bertie if he wants it for the title is good. Thanks for good venison. If Mr. Bertie wants part of the purchase money he and Mr. Curtis will perhaps want to meet White at Normanton.
