Title | Letter Noah Curtis, Stamford, to Sir John Heathcote, Bart, at Normanton. |
Description | Ordered by Mr Bertie to raise 2 unsettled points re. Stukeley. (i) Mr. Bertie hopes that Heathcote will pay him his arrears of rent owing from the tenants as he cannot receive them after the conveyance and it would hurt everyone to enforce their payment now. (ii) Rent incurred since Midsummer as money has not been paid Mr. Bertie expects a proper consideration for this as he is paying interest on £11,000 and the accruing rents are due to H. all that time and since the delays were due to Mr. White's having to go on circuit before matters were finished. Mr. Bertie insists on this as it is his loss more than H's but Curtis has persuaded him to accept of interest for £6,000 only at 5%, which he must pay his bros. from Midsummer until purchase money is paid. If any objection please refer to Messrs. White and Mayer to settle. |
