Title | Letter Noah Curtis, Stamford, to (Sir John H.) |
Description | Curtis has heard from his brother Tyson the contents of (Heathcote's) letter of 22nd. inst., re. Mr. Bertie's recent resolution to sell Stukeley. Curtis is commissioned by Bertie to treat and has acquainted him with what (Heathcote) says. On the other side is a rental of the estate as it stands, with old rents, the estate easily charged to the land-tax, and no outgoings save a very small quit rent to Mr. Torkington. Since Bertie's decision to sell is so recent Curtis cannot yet send a perfect(?) Particular but will as soon as possible. (Heathcote) may make the necessary enquiries re. the estate and Curtis will order his London agent to help him or will give (Heathcote's) steward at Stamford any possible information. As (Heathcote) takes no notice of the Deeping Estate he presumes it is not agreeable but will wait for an answer before he treats with anyone else. |
