TitleLetter T. White, to Sir J. Heathcote, Bart.
DescriptionWhite knew that James Mead would do nothing and therefore he had prepared a deed to invest the £2,000 in 3% Bank Annuities to indemnify H. against Mr. Montague Bertie's demand of £2,000 for his portion and against any loss caused by the sinking of the value of the annuity and any demand to be made on H. on account of the fortune of Mr. Montague Bertie. As soon as he comes of age the £2,000 to be paid and the term assigned at Mr. Bertie's expense by Mr. Mead or his exors. But now H. thinks that Mr. Bertie has come to town to get Mr. Mead to assign his trust on condition that the money is invested in the Funds. This seems to imply a waiving of White's scheme and a relying on Mr. Bertie's covenant to procure Mr. Mead to assign when Mr. M. Bertie comes of age. If this plan is rejected and Mr. Mead remains intractable White does not know what else is to be done. Mr. Bertie is losing by it. White is trying to serve H. and B. and will do whatever else he can.
