TitleLetter to John (Heathcote?) from his uncle, The Rev. G. Heathcote, 5 Arlington St., S.W.
DescriptionGiving the history of the Constable's Close Charity. How Mr. Burcham, the then agent, got the consent of the trustees of the charity, to exchange that field for another piece, supposed to be of equal value, in Great Gidding Field - which remains in the hands of the existing trustees. It was always a sore subject with the Wells family who never forgot or forgave the transaction. The nephew has been enquiring about the charities doled out at Conington. An interesting comment in the letter is that wheat is being sold in Chelmsford market for 37/- a qtr.
