TitlePedigree of the Brus-Cotton family, showing the descent of the lordship of Conington, Hunts, from Waltheof Earl of Huntingdon to whom St. Edward the Confessor gave it after he had banished Turkill the Dane.
DescriptionThis is taken chiefly from a pedigree drawn on the wall of the Great Hall at Conington by order of Sir Robert Cotton or his son, Sir Thomas and continued down by monumental inscriptions or other authentic writings. Note: The pedigree on the wall includes Sir Thos. and his first wife, Margaret Howard, but takes no notice of his great-uncle John Cotton. None of the younger children or daus. are mentioned, but those two or three, who succeeded to the Lordship of Conington to continue the succession.
