DescriptionGamlingay: Merton College Leasehold assigned by Paine to Duncombe, 1849. To wife Ann, Household furniture, plate, linen and china, sufficient to furnish 3 bedrooms, a parlour and a kitchen. Annuity of £150 for life (only £100 if dhe married again) Newly erected messuage in Mile Street, Gamlingay, now occupied Ann Gray, dor life remaining to son James. Son James residue of real estate. Daughter Ann, wife of J. Clarke £1000. Daughters Sarah, Hannah, Jane, Mercy, Emma and Ellen Paine £2000 each. Trustees for investment for benefit of daughter Mary Ann Paine, £2000. Any daughters born afterwards £2000. Any sons born afterwards £4000. Son David (who has already received £3000 to enable him to carry on the business of the farm he occupies) £1000. These legacies are to be paid out of personal estate (or if nessecary out of real estate) To trustees: Nephew James Paine, of Toseland, Huntingdonshire, farmer and Samuel Woodham of Gamlingay, farmer. Stock and personal estate on trust to assist son James attains 21 years, or if necessary to sell or to call in nephew James Paine to help. When son James reaches 21 he is to have residue of personal estate (if it does not amount to £4000 the trustees are to deduct from the daughter's portions sufficient to make James portion double their's. Executors wife Ann and son James and his mother to carry on the farming business before James. Witnesses: George King; solicitor of Potton, Bedfordshire, Frederick Harris and William Race, clerks.
