Having to work like navvies taking down and putting up firing ranges. Noise from guns firing all day is like thunder. Making a riding school with gravel. Walked to Southend four miles away, but pass needed for any distance more than three miles. Large number of offficers also stationed at Shoeburyness who drill etc. separately.
