Sir William Pierce Ashe a' Court of Haytesbury House, Wiltshire, Baronet, and Annabella a' Court, spinster, his second daughter, the intended bridge. 5. Stafford Squire Baxter of Furnivalls Inn, London, gentleman. 6. Robert Baxter of Furnivalls Inn, gentleman. 7. Charles Smith, Francis Squire, Charles Knatchbull and James Read. 2) A common recovery, Easter Term 1805. 1. Robert Baxter, demandant. 2. Stafford Squire Baxter, tenant. 3. Lord Bishop of Bath and Wells, his wife and son, vouchees. The undivided moiety of the below premises was limited to the use of Smith, Squire, Knatchbull and Read in trust to sell the same at the request of the Bishop, his wife and son. Now, for £ 1,000 paid to 3 by 4, at the request of 1 and 2. 1, 2 and 3 to 4. One undivided moiety in all that messuage or tenement and close of pasture adjoining (9a) together with the yards, orchards, etc, belonging to them and in all that parcel of arable land, meadow and leys (34a 1r), all of which premises are in the parish fields and bounds of Hale Weston otherwise Hayle Weston and were formerly in the tenure or occupation of John Marshall afterwards of Joseph Mayes and now or late of Charles Bankes; and also in all that cottage or tenement with the appurtenances and 1 acre of pasture thereunto belonging in Hale Weston, in the above tenures; and also in that close of pasture in Hale Weston called Cancrofts Close and some time Honey Mead (8a) in the above tenures; and also in that close of pasture called Sturtes (10a) in Little Paxton in the above occupations. (All of which premises - half of which are now being released - are known by the following names and contain according to a late survey, the following quantities: the Homestead and Home Close adjoining (5a 1r 9p), the Close and Spinney adjoining (3a 3r 21p), Narrow Close, Long Close or Cart Close (1a 1r 1p), Cancroft Close (8a 2r 24p), the Orchard and Close in the town of Haleweston (1a) being the one acre of pasture land adjoining the cottage or the site thereof, Sturts Close (12a 1r 12p), In Woodfield being open field land 9a 3r 25p. In Hunchfield also open field land 9a 3r 30p and Brick Kiln Field or Cancroft Field (10a 2r 13p). With a covenant that, for barring an estate tail created in a moiety of the premises by the will of 28 May 1696 of Thomas Sayer of Huntingdon, gentleman, deceased, the great grandfather of Rachael, wife of the Bishop of Bath and Wells, 1 will levy a fine of the undivided moiety of the premises unto 4.
