Settlement, 19 August 1812
1. Sarah Grace, widow
2. Henry Piper Sperling and Sarah Ann his wife
3. The said Henry Piper Sperling; John Ansley; Benjamin Barnard; Peter Earnshaw
1) desirous of making a settlement upon her eight infant grandchildren (Henry Grace Sperling the elder, since decd, John Sperling of Palace Gardens, Henry James Sperling, Eliza Sperling, Henrietta Frances Sperling, Emma Sperling, Maria Sperling, and Julia Sperling, the children of 2)) and has transferred £53,333 6s 8d three per cent consolidated bank annuities into the names of the said Henry Piper Sperling and (3) in trust for the eight grandchildren during their minority

3) appointed trustee in place of 1)

And whereas in the said investments the name of the said John Sperling of Dynes Hall was omitted and the sums of £2,148 1s 4d three and a quarter pounds per cent and £1,717 14s 4d Consols. were standing in the name of the said Benjamin Bernard
And whereas the said Benjamin Bernard died on the 30 April 1848 and by his appointed the said John Barnard and Elizabeth Barnard his executors
And whereas the said John Barnard and Elizabeth Barnard have transferred the said sums to John Sperling of Palace Gardens, Harvey James Sperling, Arthur Sperling and John Hanson Sperling.
Therefore the said John Bernard and Elizabeth Barnard are now released from the said sums by John Sperling of Palace Gardens, Harvey James Sperling, Arthur Sperling and John Hanson Sperling

[NB John Sperling of Dynes Hall (1763-1856?) was the father of artist Diana Sperling and his portrait is in her book of watercolours, 'Mrs Hurst Dancing, and other scenes from Regency life 1812-1823'.]
