TitleSlater photographs of Sawtry
DescriptionCollection of photographic prints of Percy J. Slater of Sawtry. These prints had apparently remained in the Slater family until the late 1980s. Slater was listed as a photographer at Sawtry from 1906 until at least 1940, but a number of prints in the present collection, especially those of local churches, date from the latter part of the 19th century, and are therefore probably not Slater’s work. Others date from early in this century to the 1930s. The prints include: Alconbury, Conington, Little Gidding, Steeple Gidding, Glatton, Hamerton, Leighton Bromswold, Sawtry, Thurning, Upton, Old Weston, and Woodwalton churches, mainly exteriors; Conington Castle fete, nd; Hamerton School Mayday fete, nd; many uncaptioned groups and portraits.
