DescriptionGeorge Henry Sawford was born in 1892 and spent much of his life in St Neots. During the First World War he served with the Royal Army Medical Corps. In 1919 he was transferred to the Reserves and served with an infantry battalion of the Northamptonshire Regiment. He married Dorothy Elizabeth Jarvis in 1929, subsequently divorced, and later married Rachel Jackson. The couple had a son, also named George Henry Sawford, in 1953. George Henry Sawford the elder died in 1969.
