DescriptionRecites: 1) Indenture of Covenants of 6th October, 1741 1. Mayor, Alderman and Burgesses of the Borough of Huntingdon. 2. Thomas Warner of Huntingdon, gent. 3. Elizabeth Countess Dowager of Sandwich, John 4th Earl of Sandwich, Sir John Bernard, Elizabeth Young, spinster, James Lovesey, Gent., and Thomas Palmer, Gent, on behalf of themselves and the rest of the Landowners, Commoners and Inhabitants of the parish of Brampton. Making certain agreements respecting the erection and support of two brick bridges across Bromholme & Portholme Brooks, streams which convey water to Huntingdon Mill, and respecting the erection and support of floodgates near Huntingdon Mills. Recites: 2) Memorandum endorsed on recital 1 and of the same date. The Countess Dowager of Sandwich and Lord Sandwich agreed with the Corporation of Huntingdon that whenever the brooks should need to be cleaned, and whenever the bridges, floodgates or the Huntingdon Mills should need to be repaired, then the tenant or occupier of Brampton Mills, upon notice being given in writing, should shut down all the sluices, floodgates etc. of Brampton Mills: also that the tenant or occupier of Brampton Mills should enter into proper covenants for the performance of this agreement. Now 1, at the request of 3, and by the direction of 2, enters into proper covenants with 3, for the performance of the agreement recited in 2.
