TitleTithe Composition account book
DescriptionThe cover of the book bears the title The Vicaridge Book. The book commences with miscellaneous memoranda re Antram births (1676-1712) (John Antram was Rector at Kimbolton from 1702 to 1716), and legal forms. A list of benefactors to the town and parish of Kimbolton follows (1557-1782), and after this begin the accounts. A list of Montagu register entries which is incomplete (c. 1632-1780) is loose in the book, next to the account for 1761. A note of a Papal grant of the Rectory of Kimbolton to the Augustine monks of Stonely, with provision for a perpetual Vicar and tithes in 1375, appears after the 1768 accounts. The memorandum was made from records, at Buckden, with another concerning a reply to the episcopal circular made in 1709. A memorandum of riding the parish boundary in 1785 follows the account of that year. There are gaps in the nineteenth century accounts among which are extracts from the Stonely Tithe Award (1769) and the Wornditch Award (1795). A statement of the temporalities of benefice (1845) by Rev. Thomas Ainsworth follows these extracts. Accounts for small tithes (n.d.) appear at the end of the book.
