Title | Letter to the Duke of Manchester from F. Tillard, Stukeley Hall |
Description | Ref. St Ives Manor. Two questions: 1) Money 2) Importance of preserving political influence with brother as MP and Duke's son perhaps wishing to succeed him. Manor of Somersham was bought by Lawrence and resold at profit. If money is the problem it is understandable that the Duke prefers "broadacres near Kimbolton". Suggests speaking to Lord Sandwich whose sale of property at St Neots "affected the Conservative interest." [The two pages in this letter were originally numbered 73-74. They've now been brought together so there is no M10/17/74.] |
