He wonders whether La Croix will be over here, anxious to get back to her. Wants the children to be out riding or walking in the fine summer weather. Had a kind note from Lord Dalhousie. White is not going to Dublin, will be more useful here as a Curate rather than Chaplain. Going to the bench at Portadown. Meeting at Bluestone and hopes to see Rusk. Hunt is angry with their servants but hears from White and Porter that the fault lies with his family, there is "dreadful work tittle tattle & favouritism". Efforts to get rid of servants, especially Kate who Elizabeth tells me is a good servant. Jane withdrew. Not sorry Hunts are going to get a house of their own. Letter from Sinclair with a high opinion of the Hebrews comparing me to a .... or a Bentley. Staying until Easter Monday, then proceeds back to Brampton. |
