| Description | He is a Catholic clergyman in Kentish Town, with a congregation and chapel on his own property, principally used as a grammar school to educate both Roman Catholic and Protestant youths. Following a dispute with Cardinal Wiseman over some articles he published in a French ecclesiastical journal, he has been deprived of his congregation and the income he derived from it, after many years of sacrifice and labour. He is aware the Duke can take no interest in Catholic affairs but hopes the Duke may still consider assisting his efforts with the grammar school. |
