| Title | Letter to Lord Frederick Montagu, at the home of Monsieur Mirabaud near Milan, Italy, from an unidentified family member, Berkeley Square [London] |
| Description | The Duke of Montrose has done everything he can to prevail upon the Peers to comply with your wishes but the House will not agree to examine witnesses in foreign countries. If you cannot appear you must forward a certificate from a respected doctor immediately. The Duke has gone to Scotland, the Duchess leaves Tunbridge and goes with her daughters to Cheltenham for three weeks as she has not been well. [His/her] legal problems have finally been settled and they have paid some of what is owed to the Duke of Montrose. They release Montagu of all future claims. Mandeville should have finished his Grand Tour of the County this week and has had invitations to dine with many people. Mr and Mrs Dashwood have found a house in Canterbury. |
