March. Lord Clarendon. Oakley Hunt at Melchbourn. Prince of Wales' visit called off.

April. Hunting at Belvoir Castle. Oakley Hunt at Swineshead. St Neots steeplechase. Arrangements for Light Horse Volunteers.

May. Field day with militia at Kimbolton. Asks Lord St John if he has any Bolingbroke papers. Arrangements for Light Horse Volunteers. Grand Review of the Militia and Volunteers at Kimbolton.

July. Light Horse inspections.

September. Tandragee and Dublin and then to France, Belgium and Germany. The King of Prussia, Count Blumentha, Prince Herman of Saxe Weimar.

October. Germany and then to Switzerland. Duchess Louise present. Return to England.

November. Holkham Hall with Lord and Lady Enfield. Visit of Prince of Wales.

December. Prince of Wales. Crystal Palace to see the tightrope walker Blondin. Death and funeral of Prince Albert.
