DescriptionAll the accounts are detailed, the overseers' giving both weekly payments in cash and by payments for clothing, etc. Includes names of parish officers, 1690 - 1734. Constable's account 1690 includes payments for arms and training of militia men, 'when we gathered up ye town army', and continued on pp.43-44, now lost. Includes collections made for French protestants 1695, 1699; fire at Warwick 1695; redemption of slaves in Machanes [Mequinez or Meknes, in Morocco] 1700; Orange refugees 1703. Note of agreement concerning land liable to fen tax, January 1700. At back: memorandum of bequest of £300 by Elizabeth Kirby, widow, of Walton-on-Thames, Surrey, to buy land the rent of which to go to 10 poor widows and to a schoolmaster for teaching 6 poor children 1733; (see 'Report of the Charity Commissioners', 1837) with names of the recipient widows and children 1733 - 1735. Collections on briefs, 1706 - 1708.
