DescriptionA collection of material from the effects of the late Mr. P.G.M. Dickinson, one-time Archivist of the County and Borough of Huntingdon.

The trustees of Mr. P.G.M. Dickinson's estate deposited this material in 1974. It consists of Mr. Dickinson's transcriptions of records relating to the Borough of Huntingdon; his notes on the history of towns, churches, abbeys and old houses; guide books to various towns, churches, houses etc. in Britain and abroad, some of which were written by Mr. Dickinson; the journals and reports of various societies; maps and phocopies of plans, some of which were drawn by Mr. Dickinson; photographs; newspaper cuttings of local and national events; and other miscellaneous material. The collection also contains some original deeds and xerox copies of some documents in the Huntingdon Borough collection.

Some other items collected or created by P.G.M. Dickinson are stored as part of the Huntingdonshire Collection, housed in Huntingdon Library, Princes Street, Huntingdon. The items include some original maps drawn by Dickinson for which we only have copies. For more information please contact the Local Studies Librarian at Huntingdon Library.
