| Description | Full length studio portrait of Charles Maddison, one of the elder brothers of the photographer Arthur Maddison. He was born in Huntingdon c1823, and was an upholsterer and cabinet maker resident in Finsbury (1851 and 1861 census), Islington (1871 census) and Camberwell (1881, 1891 and 1901 census). In 1911 he was living with his married daughter Florence Eleanor Banks in Beckenham, and he died in 1915 aged 92. He was a cabinet maker all his life, probably learning the trade from his father John Maddison, who was an upholsterer, cabinet maker and auctioneer in Huntingdon. |
