DescriptionStudio portrait of Mr G.F. Thackray in his mayoral robes. He was Mayor of Huntingdon three times - in 1880-1881, 1889-1890 and 1899-1900. He lived at Montagu House, High Street, Huntingdon, and was head of the firm of George Thackray and Son, Builders and Contractors, Marble and Stone Masons and Building Materials Dealers based in Huntingdon. The firm was taken over by Harvey and Williams in 1898.
This is the same image as DC193, in which the mace can be seen leaning against the table in the right-hand side of the photograph (missing from this image, as the original glass plate has been damaged)
