DescriptionFull-length studio portrait of Benjamin Beasley Esq. of Brampton Park House. Benjamin Beasley and his son Benjamin Beasley junior leased Brampton Park House from the Duke of Manchester from 1889 to 1907. They styled themselves Specialists in Elocution. Their advert in Kelly's 1890 Trade Directory reads "Stammering and Stuttering. Mr, Beasley's Establishments afford every accommodation for the Child of ten and the Adult of fifty, including Hunting, Fishing, Boating, Cricket, Lawn Tennis, Gymnastics, &c.,and the General Education of Junior Pupils.....Hundreds of cases which have defied all other treatment have been entirely cured by MR. BEASLEYS SYSTEM, as is shown by his Testimonials". Mr Beasley also had an establishment at Sherwood, Willesden Lane, Brondesbury, London. He died at the George Hotel in Huntingdon a few days after the fire which gutted Brampton Park House on the 24th January 1907. See WH3/2252.
