TitleMr. Thomas Coote's House and Gardens, Fenstanton.
DescriptionRear view of Mr Coote's house and gardens in Fenstanton. Three figures on the lawn appear to be playing croquet, while a female figure watches from a doorway of the house. Thomas Coote (1818-c1912), lived at "Oaklands", Fenstanton. He was the founder of the firm of Coote and Warren, Coal and Coke merchants, St. Ives. He was at various times High Sheriff of Huntingdonshire and Cambridgeshire, Deputy Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire, and he contested Cambridgeshire as a Liberal candidate in the 1881 general election. He laid the foundation stone of Trinity Church, Huntingdon, in 1867, and was one of the chief benefactors of the church.
