TitleThe interior of All Saints Church Huntingdon
DescriptionThe interior of All Saints Church Huntingdon. The wall paintings of angels and Christ in Glory above the chancel arch have now been whitewashed over. They were painted over the chancel arch during the restoration of the church in 1859. The Reverend Francis Veasey (later Archdeacon Veasey) wrote in his reminiscences "At a subsequent period again the windows of the chancel were finished….and a third [window] within the sanctuary (the Last Supper) was presented by my sister and executed by Dixon - the other window….were by Heaton and Butler, they also painted for my sister the fresco over the Chancel Arch". (HP46/2/1). It is not known when the fresco or wall painting was whitewashed over. It may possibly have been done during renovations to the church from c1894 to the early 20th century. Could this photograph may have been taken by Frederick Hinde to record the fresco before it was covered over? See also WH1/293B - this is another view of the church which is dated 1899, and the lower portion of the fresco can be seen.
