TitleBlack and White Print
DescriptionArthur Lodge, aged 24, a bachelor, clerk, of 137 Cecil Road, Rochester, son of Frederick Lodge, bootmaker, and Rebecca Murkett, spinster, of 51 High Street, Huntingdon, daughter of Dennis Murkett, (deceased), whitesmith, were married in St Mary's church, Huntingdon on the 12th April 1909. The premises of William Edwards and Son butchers, of 118 High Street, Huntingdon, can be seen in the background, therefore it would appear the car is being driven into Walden School Court opposite this shop. The car is reputedly a Napier.
A similar photograph ( Accession 4243) is in the Archives, which is plainly taken at same time , but it is said to be of a Bill Murkett driving his sister to a wedding circa 1921. However, this Whitney photograph is in the Maddison & Hinde order book as "2353 Lodge Mr & Mrs in Car" and is dated to 1909. The number "2353" is also scratched on the glass plate negative. The date of 1921 is clearly incorrect on the photograph in accession 4243, but the chauffeur may still be Bill Murkett, related to the bride.
