DescriptionThe exterior of the workshop. The sign over the front of the business reads 'Tom Rule R.S.S. General Smith est. over 100 years. Wrought iron work supplied to H.R.H Duke of York'. A blacksmith is at work renewing a horseshoe, and examples of farm equipment can be seen outside the workshop. The trade directories of 1928 and 1936 list three Rule family businesses in Ramsey - A Rule & Sons, blacksmiths, at Forty Foot Bridge, Joseph Rule & Son, blacksmiths, at New Road and Tom Rule, blacksmith, at 122a Great Whyte.
