DescriptionThe information in the processes includes: dates of issuing the mandate; dates of the visitation; archdeacon issuing the process; place of visitation; to 1736, names of apparitors, who were the messengers of the processes. It will be apparent that the processes are issued more regularly than once per year. This is because constituent deaneries of the archdeaconry were often dealt with at separate visitations. The series of visitation processes also includes a small number of monitions to episcopal visitations, these being notices to attend the visitation of the bishop which would occur every three years, or on the appointment of a new bishop. The information included in the descriptions is the date of issue (i.e. creation), and the church where the visitation was to be held.
