DescriptionThese petitions were submitted by dissenters and non-conformists requesting permission to hold services in a meeting house, usually the private home of one of the signatories. The descriptions listed below generally only include the name of the resident of the meeting house and not all signatories. From 1813 the records comprise a printed pro forma which was required before the issue of a certificate: prior to this date a signed submission for permission was sufficient.
