TitleInventory and Valuation of the farm at Steeple Gidding in the occupation of Mr. Henson Ladds.
DescriptionTaken by J.W. Pocock for Mr. Henson Ladds and by Thomas Maile for John Heathcote, Esq., Conington. 3 yards with hovels containing troughs, mangers, racks etc. and henhouse. Bullock hovel with room for 8 beasts. Cow hovel with 4 troughs, cribs, gates, partitions etc. Stack yard, 3 loading hovels, 1 framed on 14 brick piers with stone caps. Timber under the Oat Stack and Hay Stack. Grainery ladder. Lead pump and caseing. Calves Barn... mangers, cribs etc. Tiled barn, deal floor, heaphole doorboards. Reed Barn; Oak floor and brick floor to 1 mow. Walk Barn and yard; 2 washing hovels on stone caps without posts, oak barn floor... brick floors in mows, heap hole .. partition in Stable. Lodge Barn and yard: Oak floor, 2 brick floors in mows. Fixtures in House: passage - 7 cloak pins and rail; hall - regester stove grate; cupboard; nest of drawers and shelves; 4 finger plates and 2 brass locks... cellar - slated partition with door and lock... 2 shelves in closet. Pantry - 1 cupboard in 2 heights with drawer; dresser with cupboard bottom and shelf; lead sink, brass tap, towel roller, tray rack and a cupboard door and frame. Long passage - 9 cloak pins and rail, bin and shelves in wine cellar. Kitchen - wind-up range, Crane, Smoak jack, ironing stove, ash grate, double cupboard.. table bench, 2 saddle horses, 12 meat hooks. Dairy - shelves and dresser; cellar-shelves, ladder Servants chamber - towel roller, shelf, cloath pegs and plate rack. Scullery - washing copper with furnace and lid, oval boiler with partition and copper and wood lid, c en door and frame, brewing copper with furnace and lid and 2 iron bars and door bar. Chambers(?) with grates, shelves etc. Declaration by the 2 valuers that the above property has been carefully looked over and valued at £126.3.0d. Chaff barn - which Mr. Ladds took at a valuation with an addition he has built which he has underpind with brick, and laid in part of it a brick floor for lining of wheat, 2½ squares of weather boarding to the bullock hovel, which was similarly valued to him, the waggon and cart sheds to which in these 6 years Mr. Ladds has added 5 divisions which is the principal of the building. A fence partly round the 1st yard and through the pond. Value £23. signed by Pocock. The fence and gates in the front of house and the gate in the front of yard put down by Mr. Ladds and now in very good repair is worth about £22. Also a bill for timber and standing which Mr. Ladds has paid for £13.12.6d. - signed by Pocock.
