Descriptionjpeg soft copy of an original photograph of Market Hill, St Ives, looking towards Crown Street. Some of the vertical posts from the original wooden sheep pens can be seen on Market Hill. According to Bob Burn Murdoch's description of this photograph in his book "Victorian St Ives", the horizontal beams were removed on non-market days, leaving only the vertical posts. The White Hart and The Parrot public houses can be seen on the right hand side of the image, and a carter can partly be seen on the left foreground - the number 508 and the words Liverpool Street can be made out on the cart. The town pump, which had a wooden casing with a gas lamp on top, can be seen in the middle of the view. This is now the site of the Cromwell Statue
