TitleLetter patent of King Richard III
DescriptionThe borough is incorporated for perpetuity under the name of "the Bailiffs and Burgesses of the Town of Huntingdon," and by this incorporation the borough may legally acquire and sell lands, tenements, rents, services, and other possessions. The corporation is also free from prises and forest tolls, free from purveyance and pre-emption, and has the right of free warren. The corporation can plead and implead, and answer and be answered, before Justices. A parcel of 21 marks, part of the ancient fee farm of £43, is remitted. Other liberties expressed in earlier charters are inspected and confirmed. This document also includes the full text of, and confirms the grants made within, the letter patent of Henry VI, 1424 (HB1/1/6).
