TitleTown Clerk: Property
DescriptionThe Town Clerk is specified in 1630 charter. His range of activities ran across the whole administrative spectrum, as Clerk of the three courts, as the main administrative officer, of the institutions created by statute like the Local Board of Health and Paving Commissioners. Listed here are the administrative records, including those papers which Clerks wrote as Town Clerks. But it must be remembered that this was long before the Town Clerk was a salaried official employed solely or even principally on borough business. The Borough was just one of his clients; so the division between what is the Maule's archive as clerk and what as Town Clerk is uncertain, almost arbitrary.

This series (HB1/7) deals with the Property records of the Clerk. These records are not yet listed by item. Please contact CRO Huntingdon staff for more details.
