DescriptionThis collection, otherwise known as Manchester Collection I, comprises the estate and family records of the Montagu family, Dukes of Manchester of Kimbolton Castle. It also includes papers of the St John family of Longthorpe, Peterborough [Northants] and the Bernard family of Brampton Park. The St John and Bernard estates passed to the Montagu family in 1822 on the marriage of Millicent Sparrow, only surviving child of the late Robert Bernard Sparrow, to the 6th Duke of Manchester.
